Wedding Attire

Our party will be mostly outdoors on a large patio, so please be prepared for.....

  • hot at the start, cool toward the end. The forecast high is around 95 degrees.
  • sprinkles, wind, monsoon, haboob, flash flood, bird poop, meteors landing, etc.

Dress code: Shirt and shoes required. All other clothing items optional.

In all seriousness, we want you to be comfortable. Dress in layers for the weather. There will be a variety of styles and formality levels present. We hope you choose not to care what others will wear or if you are dressed "appropriately." Just a heads up... if you wear a tuxedo, you might be the only one, but more power to ya.

Kiddos

For the wedding reception, we ask that you save the child spots for those traveling (it's harder to find a sitter), and family (Goffs, Schaefers, Brennans, and Harders). Please RSVP for children over age 1 as they must be counted in our guest count. All babies less than 1 year old are welcome as they are not counted by the venue.

All kids are welcome at the Welcome Party at the park on Friday.

Travel

March is a beautiful time to visit Arizona! We encourage you to make a vacation out of it.

For those of you from out of town, renting a car will be optional. The airport, welcome party, and main event hotel (Renaissance) are along the light rail. When you arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, you can take the airport Sky Train to the light rail station. The light rail stations closest to the Renaissance are Central/Washington (North/West-bound) and 1st/Jefferson (South/East-bound). There are several other hotels along the light rail too. You can also easily take Uber or Lyft for any excursions off the light rail path.

Lodging

Keep in mind that Phoenix is a sprawling city made for driving. When you look for a place to stay, take into account how far it is from the festivities as the metro area is about 60 miles in diameter.

The wedding venue hotel, Renaissance Phoenix Downtown, gave us a discounted room rate and a block of 10 rooms for our guests. The room block is for Friday and Saturday, but the discount is only for Saturday. Any rooms booked for our guests after the block is full will still get the discount as long as there are rooms still available at the hotel (you would need to call the hotel after the block expires on 1/25/17). We (Brad and Chandra) will be staying here on Saturday night.

Other hotels along the light rail in central Phoenix:

(Listed roughly in order of price from highest to lowest)

Airbnb has great places at great prices. We recommend getting a house with the entire extended family!
